Sometimes, the brightest corners of the world can hold the darkest shadows.

Rising steeply from the turquoise waters of the Caribbean, the Dutch island of Saba is a sleepy paradise, the mountainous slopes dotted with little red-and-white cottages and the seas teeming with life. But this little oasis has a less tranquil history, many of its inhabitants having descended from smugglers and pirates.

Boone Fischer and Emily Durand are eager to explore their new home, but their peaceful lives are about to be shattered, as one of history's most powerful hurricanes begins to form — and, as if that weren't enough, a savage evil has made its way ashore. In this sequel to the Best Seller Deep Shadow, Nick Sullivan brings the readers to another fascinating corner of the world and sends them into a swirl of action and adventure.

REVIEWS

“With his three-dimensional action scenes, vivid characters, and his remarkably clever, page-gripping plots, Nick Sullivan joins the ranks of the best writers of Caribbean adventure.”

Michael Reisig, bestselling author of the Road to Key West  series

“What a great sequel to a fantastic opening shot! Boone and Emily return from Deep Shadow, but in new digs. These characters seem real to me, like close friends, as well as some new friends on the Dutch island of Saba. If this was a movie, I'd comment on great underwater scenery, but you'll have to open your inner eye, as you read it.”

Wayne Stinnett, bestselling author of Fallen Out

“Finally, a story that captures the intrigue of this hard-to-explain place with just the right amount of Saba Spice. What a pleasure to read such a well-researched (or, as the locals say, “for true”) book written by a real diver with attention to historical and present day details.  A must read for anyone who has had the pleasure to visit. Bucket-listers, get packin'!”

Lynn Costenaro, owner of Sea Saba

“Nick Sullivan takes his in-depth knowledge of life in the islands, both above and below water, and spins it into an intriguing Caribbean adventure.  You will find yourself in an exotic southern locale, with an urge to dive beneath the crystal blue water. Keep in mind though, there is always trouble in paradise. Another fast-paced and gripping read.”

— Ed Robinson, author of the Trawler Trash Series

“My bleary eyes this morning are all Nick Sullivan's fault. Deep Cut is AWESOME! It has every element that I want in a thriller and weaves it into a flawless tapestry.”

— Don Rich, author of Coastal Conspiracy

“Nick Sullivan's literary strength lies in his masterful ability to make his reader feel passionately about his characters. Their personalities, idiosyncrasies, capabilities, and flaws make them relatable and irresistible. His extensive travels and experience in the islands give him a unique and beautiful well of knowledge from which he draws to paint unforgettable landscapes, providing the backdrop for his exceptional novels. His passion for the Caribbean and the fascinating sport of scuba diving shines through on every page of this incredibly well-written and captivating story—he’s destined to be one of the great action-adventure writers of today.”

— Cap Daniels, bestselling author of Opening Chase

“It is difficult for me to put Mr. Sullivan’s books in a specific genre category as they all have plenty of action, adventure, emotion, mystery, romance and excitement. They seem like a well-planned and organized television series or movie. The scenes are well described, the characters are dimensional, and the interactions between them are realistic. There is adventure, humor, love, and loss all woven into one great story.”

Quella Reviews (Audible review, 4 out of 5 stars)

Deep Cut was brilliant from beginning to end. His ability to intertwine real world locations within the main story in both Deep Shadow and Deep Cut blows my mind.  The overall vibe reminded me of the island of Saba – even though there was a lot going on, everything got there in due time. Even though it was an intense book (and there were some dark and scary moments) everything was paced extremely well for its setting. I will say this, Sullivan can write. Emily and Boone complete me in some way – and I cannot wait to figure out where they are off to next.”

Brian's Book Blog (Audible Audiobook Review, 5 out of 5 stars)

Deep Cut picks up where its predecessor Deep Shadow ended, this time with diving buddies Boone Fischer and Emily Durand getting out of bed instead of into it. They’re a terrific pair — both sidekicks and lovers — and part of the book's delight is watching them work, play and (yes) fight together. Really great storytelling.”

Peter Johnson, author of Grant's Indian

“I read Deep Cut in three quick gulps and enjoyed every page. Kudos to Nick Sullivan for a rich and fascinating blend of adventure, mystery, and detection spiced with humor and highlighted by a literal whirlwind finish. Add my name to the list of those eagerly awaiting the next installment in the Boone and Emily series.”

— Bill Pronzini, best-selling author and Mystery Writers of America Grand Master

“I recommend readers — wait for it — dive right in with Deep Cut. It stands alone and is a quick and exciting way to kick-off your summer reading and ignite your wanderlust. Don’t miss it!”

— Hall Ways Blog

“The setting is exotic and lush, a unique place for murder, deceit, and occasional mayhem. I didn’t want to put it down!”

— Dab of Darkness Blog

“Amazing book. Highly recommend. Five brilliant shining stars!”

— Haddie's Haven Blog

“The mystery kept me hooked the whole way. Sullivan always keeps us on our toes. I couldn’t put this down, I just needed to know how it ended.”
